Welcome Footprint trainers

Busses, delays, early mornings and lots of logistics and we have 8 trainers from all over South Africa arriving at AVO for their training for the FSB project. Our logistics team has been hard at work finding the trainers and making all the arrangements. Well done Team!

We welcome all the trainers with open arms. Jules and I jumped with delight when we were introduced to the first trainers that arrived this morning. We were sitting strategising about how far we have come to ensure that Footprint takes off … when in walked these two smiling faces. They had travelled far and still had a glint in their eyes…..

The AVO space will be buzzing with excitement over the next two weeks as the trainers get down and dirty with the training program.

Watch this space for more…… If you see someone hopping about with a great smile on their face… it could just be me!

Really sad to be missing the action. I know there has been an enormous amount of planning and preparation leading up to this moment… and I know that the trainers are in very safe hands. Welcome to everyone from the distant shores of Cape Town. This is a very exciting moment for everyone. The start of a dream. I wish you all the very best for a journey that is rich in learning and experience. Wish I could be there.

It has been really fantastic meeting all these wonderful trainers. We have a great vantage point of seeing the impact that footprint will have on developing South Africa. Its very exciting!

Well, the training process has begun with a bang! We have just had 5 days of intensive preparation and grooming. The training has ranged from advanced training skills to learning about financial matters to experiencing the actual training programme first hand. Whew. There is no doubt that this wonderful team from all over South Africa is going to make a serious impression on the hearts and minds of our youth. Many of them are skilled counsellors and facilitators and they are just itching to get out of their learning seats and to start putting on their facilitator, coach and director caps. Now deeply aware of their learning styles, their personality types and how to manage conflict (don’t take the bait…don’t take the…) we believe that they are ready to step up and become extremely powerful facilitators! Tomorrow, they get to leap into the drivers seat…after a bit of a sleep in. I am so looking forward to seeing each of them in action! Oh, and one other thing. This group can sing! Man! We should be creating a Footprint choir: with an opera singer from UCT and a self-taught young man with a magnificent voice…what more can I say? The talent is abundant! Watch out South Africa, here come some beautiful footprints…
